Cermaq cooperates with Norwegian start-up kelp producer

Cermaq and Folla Alger enter into an agreement on integrated salmon and kelp farming in collaboration with leading research environments in Norway. The companies will utilize nutrients from the salmon cages for farming kelp but will also develop kelp into a new feed raw material for salmon.

Salmon producer Cermaq to cut 35 per cent of emissions

Cermaq will cut 35 percent (in absolute figures) of its total greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. More electric boats and facilities, renewable energy, climate-friendly transport and feed will be important measures, making Cermaq one of five aquaculture companies that use science-based climate targeting (SBT).

Cermaq’s sustainability report 2020 – a year impacted by the pandemic

Transparency has always been important to Cermaq, and that is why we were pioneers in sustainability reporting in our industry, and for more than 10 years have had our GRI report reviewed by external auditors. The GRI-report covers 40 indicators, of which 13 are customized to address aquaculture specific areas.

Suppliers to salmon industry lead the way to end deforestation in Brazil

The Brazilian soy suppliers to the salmon industry, CJ Selecta, Caramuru and Imcopa, will implement a 100 percent deforestation free soybean value chain with 2020 as their cut-off date. No soy grown on land deforested after this deadline will be traded.

CEOs of world’s leading seafood companies commit to time-bound goals for a healthy ocean

8 December 2020 – For the first time in the history of seafood production, ten of the largest seafood companies in the world have committed to a set of time-bound and measurable goals that will ensure the industry becomes more sustainable. The goals are the result of four years of dialogues through the science-industry initiative Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship (SeaBOS).
