Campbell River – Cermaq has released its 2019 Sustainability Report, which provides information regarding operations in all three operating countries – Norway, Chile and Canada - over the course of 2019.

The report focuses on sharing information focusing on several metrics, including overall ocean health, climate change, biodiversity, feed composition and ingredient sourcing. The report also shares the role that Cermaq plays in the communities in which it operates, as well as how farmed salmon can help to provide food security, while providing access to a healthy and sustainably-farmed protein.

“We are committed to ongoing improvement through innovation, technology, and operational changes,” says David Kiemele, Managing Director for Cermaq Canada. “This is the tenth year the report has been produced, reflecting our commitment to transparency and accountability. The 2019 Sustainability Report reflects our openness and adaptability and we are proud to share our results.”

For the first time this year, and in-line with Cermaq’s commitment to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), printed copies will be available by request only. The report, along with previous reports, can be found online and downloaded on Cermaq’s Global website, located at https://www.cermaq.com.

Cermaq Canada is located on the west coast of Canada with up to 300 employees. Cermaq has 25 salmon farm licences and operates four hatcheries across northern Vancouver Island. Cermaq believes in supporting the communities in which we live and work and invests over $1 million annually through sponsorship, community investment, in-kind and other support.
