2017-05-03: Cermaq Canada has re-certified all its management systems to meet ISO standards, and that's something that no other salmon farmers can claim.
Thanks to a great effort by all employees, Cermaq Canada’s Integrated Management System and its supporting programs in Broodstock, Freshwater, Saltwater, Food Safety and Quality, Administration and Health and Safety have been once again certified to international ISO standards.
“A ton of very hard work went into achieving this one,” said Richard Finch, Cermaq Canada’s Sustainability Manager. “We should be very proud, and everyone needs to know what a great job they have done. The auditors all commented on the professionalism of the employees and the level of awareness that they displayed. Well done.”
All four parts of the Integrated Management System were certified, including Quality , Environmental, Food Safety and Occupational Health and Safety. Cermaq Canada is the only salmon farming company in the world to have these certifications, which are important because they are the backbone of all our operational direction and provide the framework for our business.
Without them, it would be much harder to achieve the market-focused certifications such as the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Salmon Standard and the Global Aquaculture Alliance Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) standard.
