CEOs of world’s leading seafood companies commit to time-bound goals for a healthy ocean

8 December 2020 – For the first time in the history of seafood production, ten of the largest seafood companies in the world have committed to a set of time-bound and measurable goals that will ensure the industry becomes more sustainable. The goals are the result of four years of dialogues through the science-industry initiative Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship (SeaBOS).

Cermaq aims to improve fish health and welfare with iFarm

By using artificial intelligence and machine learning, Cermaq will be able to identify each fish in a net pen, allowing for targeted health interventions if required and individualized health records for each individual fish. The iFarm five-year project is the first of its kind and will allow for an individualized fish approach to salmon farming. Now, the first fish have been transferred in Cermaq’s iFarm.

Cermaq launches iFarm project in January

The iFarm project has been scaled to the approval for four licenses, and will be launched in Steigen, Nordland county, in January. The first transfer of fish to the sea is planned for autumn 2020.

Cermaq site in Region XII, Chile is suspected of having ISA virus

During a routine sampling at our seawater site Ensenada Rys located in XII Region, a ISA virus was detected on one of the pens at the site. There has been no signs of disease or elevated mortality.
